Haleakala
From sea level to 10,000 feet, visit the crater of Maui’s biggest volcano. Many people make the trip to see the sunrise but visiting Haleakala is spectacular at any time of day. Starting from the beach resorts, we climb through the lush Upcountry. The trees give way to hardy bushes and then volcanic rocks and sand as we reach the crater. A moonscape awaits at the top, complete with cinder cones and incredible scenery like nowhere else on earth.
Don’t be concerned if you see clouds around the volcano from the bottom. If the rest of the sky is clear then you should have great views at the top. Allow time for the clouds to blow in and out while you are there.
