Hope - Osoyoos: Highway 3 through Manning Park
This tour is available in
Driving time: approximately 3 1/2 hours plus stops.
Highway 3 is the Crowsnest Highway that bounces along the USA border all the way from Alberta to Hope, BC. Along this section, Manning Park is the highlight, as it winds through the Cascade Mountains. You will be in awe of the giant trees and steep mountains that surround you throughout the park. If don't have much time for the Park, at least take the short drive to the Cascade Lookout.
But there are also genuine logging towns and the southern-most regions of the burgeoning BC winemaking industry along this route. Klikuk - The Spotted Lake provides a connection with the First Nations people of the area. Another highlight along this drive is the eerie Hope Slide location where a mountainside gave way covering the highway with massive boulders and claimed several lives.
If traveling from Vancouver to the east, this highway will bring you to the southern end of the Okanagan Valley. This is a great alternative but longer route to the TransCanada Highway if traveling to the Rockies.
